SITS Attendees:
We would only expect the advanced course to be undertaken by those who are required to inspect complex tube and fitting scaffold on a regular basis, e.g. a full-time scaffold inspector, scaffold supervisor, project engineer, or similar.
If you do not have any previous knowledge or experience of scaffolding will not be eligible to attend this course. Literacy and language comprehension are important requirements in all courses.
Industry experience alone does not guarantee eligibility for the Advanced SITS course. You must also have at least one of the following before being accepted onto the course:
- CISRS Basic SITS card for a minimum of 2 years.
- CISRS Scaffolder card for a minimum of 2 years.
- CISRS Advanced Scaffolder card.
What will you learn?
This course provides you with the knowledge and understanding to carry out the inspection of basic, special purpose and designed tube and fitting scaffolding structures in accordance with the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and current scaffolding industry best practice.
The overall aim is to help you develop an understanding of the appropriate safety regulations and the ability to interpret design specifications and statutory regulations when inspecting complex/ design scaffolding structures for faults.
How will I be assessed?
You will have to successfully pass the following:
- Theory Test
- Practical scaffold inspection
This is a pass/ fail assessment.
All delegates must also have passed the Current CITB Health, Safety & Environment Touch Screen Test (within the last 2 years).
N.B. The requirement for individuals to hold a scaffold inspection card for 2 years prior to attending an Advanced SITS course will only apply to New Entrants. New Entrants are classed as individuals who have not previously undertaken any scaffold inspection training or have no evidence of previous training with an Approved CISRS centre.

What do I get for completing?
- Once you successfully complete the CISRS Advanced Scaffold Inspection course will be issued with a CISRS certificate of attendance as a record of your training.
- You can then apply for a CISRS Advanced Scaffold Inspection card provided you have passed a CITB Health, Safety and Environment test within the last 2 years.
This will be carried out as part of the course administration and incurs a charge per application to cover the standard CISRS card application cost which is included within the course pricing.
